   Jazz Fanfare and Alleluia
Jazz Fanfare and Alleluia Commissioned by the Greater Houston Handbell Association for FebFest 1997, the tenth anniversary. The opening fanfare is syncopated and shifts the beat emphasis around through changing meter and ties. The Alleluia begins in measure 38 with a staccato walking bass and then adds the syncopated alleluia above. The texture builds until a slower section at measure 84. Here is a mellow "breather" in the middle of "all that jazz!" But, it doesn't last for long as the alleluia material returns and builds to a final section complete with mart-lifts for the bass line and syncopation for the upper bells. Brass ensemble is 3 trumpets and 2 trombones. Percussion is Snare Drum, Cymbal, tom-toms.
