The first section describes the coming of the storm. The irregular meter reflects the lightning and movement of the clouds as the storm grows and comes closer. Each repetition brings the energy closer to us until it erupts in the second section. Here the relentless energy of nature, both terrifying and majestic, is portrayed with force and exuberance.
